Another short drive brings you to Salcombe, known for its chic cafés, boutique shops, and beautiful estuary. From here, you can hop on the ferry to discover sheltered coves perfect for younger children, before rounding off the day with fish and chips or dinner at one of the waterside restaurants.
For surfing and bodyboarding, Bantham offers some of the best waves in the area, along with rock pools ideal for exploring.

We had a wonderful stay at The Retreat. The house is exceptionally well-maintained, spacious, and set in a quiet village.
The kitchen was fully equipped (complete with high-quality branded crockery), and we were so grateful for the generous treats waiting for us on arrival.
The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. Our kids absolutely loved their room with the stylish bunk bed design, as well as the fantastic selection of board/card games provided! Outside, the garden is a real highlight, there is a little stream running along the back of the garden.
Location-wise, it’s just a quick 5-7 minutes drive to the nearest beach, and only about 10 minutes to Kingsbridge and Salcombe, which made popping out for supermarkets and great local restaurants super easy. The binder full of local area guide and tips was also extremely helpful for planning our days out.
We had a fantastic stay and would love to return!

Beautiful house and furniture. Bedrooms and particularly the beds and linen were outstanding. The garden was especially beautiful and well thought out with a lovely stream at the end. Would have liked to have stayed longer.
