Location

• Salcombe is just a 5-minutes drive away, a charming little town on the bank of what is often described as the prettiest harbour in England. Picture-perfect pastel-coloured houses make up a Positano-like scene overlooking water, sandy beaches, and rolling green hills of the surrounding countryside. Salcombe has a uniquely wonderful array of shops ranging from an acclaimed grocer, butcher and baker to art galleries selling serious contemporary works and chic boutiques.

• Hope Cove is just a 5-10 minute drive away and consists of two stunning sandy beaches. The water quality is designated as excellent, so the ideal location for children to splash around. The chocolate box seaside village has lovely places for food, definitely try The Cove.

• Bantham is close too, just a 15-minute drive away. Nestling deep within the South Hams, at the mouth of the River Avon, is Bantham Beach. Beautiful scenery with panoramic views over Bigbury Bay and the famous Burgh Island, great for Agatha Christie fans to see. Great for surfing, and if you’re a beginner the Bantham Surfing Academy based there is perfect for lessons.

Reviews

Fabulous stay at Moonrakers over the Coronation weekend. Such a beautiful property in a great location - 5 mins to Salcombe and lots of fab beaches. Our little dog especially loved the treats and care package left for her! Thank you Freya for all of the recommendations also.

Five of us stayed here and it was every bit as lovely as the pictures suggested. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils etc, just like being at home. The cottage is well situated in a quiet village, with a nice pub just a short walk away. Would thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone.

Our stay at Moonrakers cottage was absolute perfection for my family and dog. The cottage has everything you need and the area is brilliant too! You are within driving distance of so many great places such as Salcombe, Hope Cove, Kingsbridge, Beesands, etc! Malborough is also so lovely too with great pubs and the locals are super friendly. We cannot wait for our next visit. Thank you Freya!!
