About N° 5 The Salcombe

For modern bijou living for two, in the heart of Salcombe, N° 5 is the place for you. It’s recently undergone a complete transformation, with everything getting a little ‘zhuzh’, bringing it bang on trend and up to date.

The Space

Entering on the ground floor, through either the shared gardens of The Salcombe, overlooking the harbour and communal swimming pool, or from the entrance hall off the main corridor, you will notice that whilst the living space is compact there are two sets of sliding doors, allowing bags of light and air into the apartment. There’s also a sensor light when you come in through the front door into the hallway, so you don’t have to worry about finding your feet (or the switch!) in the dark if you arrive late.

The lounging/kitchen/dining area is presented in a compact studio layout with space-saving plantation shutters separating the expansive sleeping space and bathroom. These doors are louvred allowing the light to continue to permeate the space. The whole impression is one of airiness.

Lending to the breezy feel, there is lovely coastal and sea life art on the walls, with curtains made from a blue and white fabric with a design reminiscent of samphire. Gorgeous bone china from Cream Cornwall is there for you to have a cup of tea or coffee in and there are lots of little homely details to keep you comfortable in an unfamiliar environment.

Beautiful tongue and groove wood panelling throughout is painted in Farrow & Ball’s subtle shade of Drop Cloth, a gentle mid-grey beige, while the walls are finished in Kakelugn blue, a clean light blue that takes its name from the traditional Swedish tiled stoves designed to evoke historic, folkloric fireside charm.

Double plantation shutters separate the sleeping space from the living space, and the bathroom is luxuriously appointed with double mirror and sinks, loo and large shower with plenty of shelf space. There’s also a sensor light in the bathroom and a built-in toothbrush and razor charging point too.

The kitchen is fully equipped for you to cook and prepare meals, with oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, kettle, toaster, under counter fridge/freezer and a dining table seating two, (with two table extenders for anyone requiring extra room) although the fantastic town of Salcombe is completely at your fingertips with many superb cafés, bars and restaurants waiting to take great care of your every need. Why come on holiday and cook for yourself?!

You can bask in the sunshine right outside your apartment, sitting with a coffee at the teak table with room for two, and swim in the pool that is merely feet away. From sun lounging to café life you can have it all here, in an instant.

Reviews

We had the privilege of staying in this apartment immediately after a complete renovation and it is beautiful. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bedroom had sliding doors to the kitchen/lounge area so you can lie in bed and take in the spectacular views. Because this apartment is on the ground floor you have access straight onto the beautifully manicured gardens and pool area which gave you great access from the car park, but also another entrance via the hallway from the main reception area (down one flight of stairs). The kitchen contains everything you would need should you want to cater for yourself including toaster and coffee maker (and dishwasher!).
