About Pitchford House

Iconic Pitchford House is known as Salcombe's most elegant Town House.
At the heart of Devon's most celebrated seaside town, looking out over the water, Pitchford offers luxury and privacy in the most desirable location, moments from the shops, restaurants, and beaches.
The landscaped walled garden has stunning panoramic views across one of the world’s most beautiful harbours.

The Space

The house itself is newly refurbished and interior designed throughout in peaceful tones and luxurious finishes. Spread across four floors with seven bedrooms and five bathrooms and three reception rooms.

Entering from the main front door on the first floor, one passes through an elegant hallway, past the guest WC into a large open set of rooms comprising a sitting-room with working fireplace and harbour views, a large dining room with banquet seating, and a glass dome-topped kitchen with a LaCanche Range oven and SubZero refrigeration.

On the second floor there are two fairly equally sized bedrooms with king size beds - both en suite, one with harbour views. There is a further, smaller twin bedroom also with a harbour view.

On the attic floor the back bedroom has an en suite bathroom with rooftop views of the town. There is a shower room off the landing. The larger front attic bedroom has twin beds both with additional truckles so can sleep up to four. From the arched window with wooden internal shutters one can see right across the harbour to sandy beaches and rolling hills beyond.

The ground floor comprises a large open-plan sitting-room with 65 inch TV and bifold doors which can be opened to a small terrace off the street.
There is a smaller second kitchen and table. A spacious king sized bedroom with skylight and internal window can be found at the back of the ground floor with a bath. A small, bedroom with bespoke built-in, full sized single beds and a third truckle has an internal window which can be open or closed to the back bedroom.
Finally there is a separate shower on the ground floor.

The garden at Pitchford is a hidden gem. Accessed via an original three-flight, stone staircase from the kitchen it is at rooftop height. Beautiful original Devon stone walls surround on three sides opening out to truly sensational 180 degree views of the harbour and across rolling green countryside. Equipped for al fresco fun there is a lovely outdoor dining area, huge sun loungers, and a stunning fire pit seating area.

Location

Salcombe is a charming little town on the bank of what is often described as the prettiest harbour in England.

Picture-perfect pastel-coloured houses make up a Positano-like scene overlooking water, sandy beaches and rolling green hills of the surrounding countryside.

Salcombe has a uniquely wonderful array of shops ranging from an acclaimed butcher and baker to art galleries selling serious contemporary works and chic boutiques.

Getting Around

Stepping out from Pitchford you are right in the heart of Salcombe, only a few minutes’ walk from all of the lovely shops, restaurants, and four great pubs.
The Harbour Hotel is three minutes by foot and has a gorgeous bar and restaurant as well as an award-winning spa with a pool.

Catch the gorgeous little ferry to be on the sandy beaches of East Portlemouth in minutes or stroll almost an exact mile along the coastal path to North Sands and the famous Winking Prawn.

You won't need a car to enjoy Salcombe. In fact, in the summer we'd recommend leaving it at home - Salcombe is a bustling town and movement on the roads and parking is tedious.

Reviews

Pitchford House is beautiful. It is situated in the middle of Salcombe yet very quiet. Laid out across four floors it is spacious and tastefully decorated. Plenty of dinner & glassware of a good quality. The bathrooms were all lovely and the beds very comfortable. Freya was excellent at keeping me informed regarding getting to the house, where to park and useful tips on restaurants and things to do. Would strongly recommend this fabulous property.

Absolutely fantastic long weekend with family. The house was beautiful and decorated for Christmas. We all loved the space - so well decorated and fully stocked to cater for lovely family meals. The location was amazing, views across the estuary and the fantastic amenities of Salcombe right on the doorstep. Freya is a brilliant host, proactive communication, and extremely thoughtful. I would highly recommend the house.

We had a wonderful stay in this stunning property. Fabulous location right in the heart of Salcombe, next to shops, restaurants and pubs, minutes from the ferry across to East Portlemouth (beautiful coastal walk), easy walk to North Sands bay. Extremely well equipped, comfortable, and elegant house. The roof-top fire pit and the beautiful view made it really special. We already look forward to our return!
