About N° 21 The Salcombe

No. 21, also known as ‘The Quarterdeck’, is a gorgeous contemporary 2-bedroom property in the heart of Salcombe (part of the former Salcombe Hotel).

The Space

An incredible outside space provided by a truly vast semi-circular balcony (seriously, it has a bigger footprint for the outside space than inside) and it gives superb panoramic coastal views of both Salcombe estuary and the nearby sandy beaches, as well as providing unbelievable light into the apartment. Not three, not four, but five French windows open out onto the decking, providing so much bounteous fresh air and super Salcombe sunshine in the height of holiday season you’ll feel invigorated in no time.

The open plan living space within gives a remarkable and sublime experience, both calming and exhilarating at the same time. You’re up above the harbour, with your senses being assaulted on all sides almost forcing you to make the next decision to enjoy your stay in the south west. Do we go to the beach or hire a boat for a day at sea? Or hire a boat to go to a secluded cove with our very own beach? Should we have a coffee here or go into the town and get brunch? Should we shop or lunch – well obviously both, but which first?!

Of course, you could be an early riser, getting up to breakfast in your outside space, with maybe a bit of early sun bathing. There are sun loungers, dining and storage space on the balcony, and assuming that the weather is going to be perfect for your stay you’ll no doubt be spending a lot of time here. There are two sofas out on the decking too, meaning you can enjoy the morning and evening sun from different aspects.

Entering the apartment you’ll find yourself in a hallway leading to all the rooms. The large airy studio style setting offers space to lounge and enjoy the view from a huge sofa

while a properly equipped galley style kitchen with electric cooker, hob, fridges, dishwasher and microwave is set behind the seating area. There’s dining for six inside and out.

A rug with a cool geometric design in blue and white, from local company Weaver Green, complements the blue and white soft furnishings and there are some funky driftwood sculptures around the room to enjoy. These are alongside the bold, confident simplicity of Bert & Buoy prints displayed on the walls from local artist Bert Fowler.

The double bedroom has a comfortable king size bed and super storage with floor to ceiling wardrobes. There are some design classics amongst the furniture throughout the property too. The en suite bathroom has an attractively tiled shower plus the usual sink and loo.

The second bedroom has a low-level L-shape split bunk bed and good storage. Both bedrooms have access to the balcony.

The family bathroom has a capacious bath, with shower over and the other necessaries, with the same eye-catching décor as the en suite.

Guest access

There is a designated free parking space, approximately 25 metres from the front door. The car park is private with entry via a security barrier.

This apartment is situated on the 2nd floor and is accessible by lift. There is step free access from the car park. There is a 14cm step up to the bedroom. There is also a 14cm step from the hallway to the family bathroom.

Other things to note

Other features include free Wi-Fi, an outdoor swimming pool, a private entrance and splendid views from the 3rd floor. You can also find a restaurant/wine bar within the building.

There is also one mooring per apartment on a private pontoon for a dinghy, with overall length (including out-board) of 5m – by prior arrangement only.
