About N° 38 The Salcombe
If you are looking for one of the best properties to immerse yourself in the Salcombe local area then No. 38 is your perfect choice. This is a superb two-bedroomed apartment within the complex that was formerly the Salcombe Hotel that will appeal to all ages of travellers looking for a luxurious place to stay with the convenience of being in the heart of the town.
On a corner aspect, this place has a delicious view up and down the harbour, completely unobscured with the lack of neighbours on one side so that you cannot help but be blown away by it. With views stretching to Mill Bay and Sunny Cove you can sit out ‘on deck’ sipping either a tea, coffee or an aperitif and plan your day, night, and beyond. There’s enough room on the balcony for dining for four, extra seats to enjoy a sundowner or two, plus sun loungers.
Looking the other way, you can check out the busy marina, with all manner of water craft – maybe you can even hire one yourself - if you haven’t brought your own boat down to the harbour. (There is one mooring per apartment on a private pontoon for a dinghy, with overall length (including out-board) of 5m.)
With such sumptuous views, particularly on a sunny day, of Salcombe Harbour you’ll be sad knowing that one day you’ll have to leave it even though you’ve only just arrived!
The Space
N° 38’s main living area is open plan, with the sitting room housing plenty of comfortable and well-designed furniture to accommodate all, and the dining room and kitchen share the same unbroken space with smart wooden flooring reminiscent of the deck of a yacht. Perfect for easy living and good communication, this makes it ideal for socialising with your family or friends. There are two sets of double glass doors here on different sides of the room, as well as a large picture window, providing lovely light and creating an airy ambience.
Deft colourful touches are provided with nautical and natural paraphernalia throughout; an oar here, some chandlery rope there. Quirky bird and fish artwork and contemporary sculptures line the walls, while the cushions and even the furniture all point to the unassailable fact that you’re beside the seaside – and never far away from it.
The kitchen has some striking navy tiles creating a classic and smart splashback in the kitchen zone with its largely white décor. You don’t have to worry about appliances – everything you would expect and maybe a little more, is here for you to utilise in the kitchen, whether rustling up an easy breakfast or something more substantial – although with the town at your fingertips and a plethora of eating establishments, why waste time cooking when someone else is only too happy to take care of your needs in Salcombe.
The master bedroom has crisp clean lines provided by the gorgeous white wooden furniture and linen. French windows open out onto your private balcony overlooking the clear blue waters of the Salcombe estuary provided by the ria (a drowned river valley) that stretches from the English Channel to the nearby town of Kingsbridge. The en suite provides a loo, shower, and hand basin, whilst the family bathroom offers a luxurious Chalice Major slipper bathtub, an architectural centrepiece for any bathroom. It also has a loo with a view!
There is a charming twin bedroom for children or extra adults, with functional hanging space.
What are you waiting for? Time to start planning a fun break in the jewel in the crown of the South Devon coast – Salcombe.
