About The Little Blue House

If you want to be in the thick of the action in Salcombe, with a view to the creek as well, The Little Blue House will be right up your (Island) Street!

The Space

Situated up two flights of stone steps from Island Street (or four steps down from Church Lane round the back), you are a literal stone’s throw from the bars, restaurants, and boutiques on offer in the superb holiday destination that is Salcombe. Lauded by the broadsheets’ travel writers up and down the land, if you’ve never been before you’ll understand why when you get here.

You are the shortest of short walks from some of the best seafood restaurants in the South Hams - Rockfish, The Crab Shed, and The Lobster House (literally across the road from you and just opened summer 2026). Other local gems Salcombe Gin, Salcombe Chocolate (you’ll probably smell the delicious wafts from the chocolate factory and find them hard to resist), and The Devon Rum Company as well as the famous Salcombe Dairy Ice Cream are all found along Island Street.

The Little Blue House is delightful in every way and the perfect place for you to enjoy the chic and exclusive Salcombe Harbour.

Warm wood tones provided by some glorious oak flooring and fresh greys, whites, and blues are the décor order of the day. Entry through the front door is instantly welcoming and quirky with a fabulous fish mural ‘swimming’ up the stairs in the hallway. There’s plenty of coat and bag hanging space in the lobby, with white painted bench seating too.

From there you’re straight into the open plan studio living of an elegant nautically themed blue sitting room, with a super L-shaped sofa to sink into, and some lovely bits of art and tasteful decorative items. This leads immediately to the crisp white kitchen diner, with a fantastic picnic style dining table as the centrepiece and a wonderfully appointed kitchen with everything you’ll need (even though all you probably need is the Dualit kettle and toaster because you’re on holiday and everything you need is outside nearby – let someone else do the heavy lifting as far as cooking is concerned, after all you are on holiday!)

A very handy utility area with everything required (washer, drier, etc.) leads out from the kitchen, and out again to the back door you’ll find an external shower area, so the sand doesn’t need to come in too (that pesky sand gets EVERYWHERE). There’s also an indoor shower room with loo and sink, tiled in gorgeous green tiles, adjacent to the utility.

Up the stairs, you’ll discover a beautiful double bedroom with a huge luxurious fabric headboard, recessed lighting, some ship lights for your bedside convenience, lovely Roman blinds, and gorgeous local artwork – the sunlight shimmering on the water in the paintings will make you leap out of bed each morning to go and find the real thing. Of course, there’s a smart grey en suite bathroom with a shower bath.

To the rear of the property are two further bedrooms – one very much a kids’ bedroom with a lovely rustic stripped pine bunk bed, and the third bedroom has two single beds at right angles to each other.

Overlooking Island Street at the front of the house there are two levels with outdoor dining areas. One just above the street where you can rest with an ice cream cone bought nearby, and one outside the front door where you can enjoy your brunch, lunch, or simply soaking up the sun and the ambience of this unique town.

Guest access

The Little Blue House is accessed via steps to the front and rear, therefore we don’t recommend this property for guests with limited mobility.
